As a millennial, I aim to become more and more entrepreneurial in how I approach my work and the way I work in the future. To live a truly epic and awesome life, I believe it’s important for us ladies (and men too as a matter of fact) to adopt new ways of working and thinking.
I was reading proverbs 31 in the bible the other day, and lets admit, most of us have read that chapter thinking that it only applies to making yourself a desirable wife. As I read the chapter, I picked out really interesting things about how powerful the woman in question was. She was an entrepreneur and very business savvy, whilst also managing her household affairs.
As a woman, I believe it so important to be a well rounded individual. Gone are the days where we are seen as only partners and mothers. Women are achieving major advancements in the world of work, entrepreneurialism and innovation, and I want to also be a huge part of that!! Does that mean I don’t want to be a wife or a mother in the future, of course not! Motherhood and being a wife is something I very much look forward to, however I know that it is not the only reason I am here on earth. I know that I am here to also change the way the rules of business have been written. I am here to inspire a generation of women to keep aiming high and to also live out their fullest potential!
So how can we make an impact in the world of work? I believe we can step out and do the following:
Tip 1: Live your brand. Every single person has something unique to offer the world. That is your unique selling point, or what I like to call your personal brand. The more you find, live and breathe your personal brand, the more you will stand out from your competition!
Tip 2: Invest in yourself. To love yourself is to also invest in yourself. As women, we are very guilty of putting others before ourselves. Be kind to you, by investing in you via travelling the world, reading books, going back into education or finding yourself a great mentor. If you are not willing to invest in you, how do you expect others to do the same? Invest in you, and your business will thank you for it in the long term!
Tip 3: Create a legacy. What is your WHY? Why do you do, what you do? Once you know this, you are on your way to working with purpose and creating a legacy. The work you do should be bigger than you in the sense that it should be more than just a way for you to create income for yourself. In addition, by working towards creating a legacy, you will be more inclined to do smarter business with clients, or provide services that will add value and leave a lasting impact.
Tip 4: Collaborate!! I can’t stress this enough. If you know of a fellow business woman you admire and would love to do business with, or share best practise it is key to collaborate. You cannot do business alone. No woman is an island. A successful business is grown through the shared knowledge and expertise of those you strategically collaborate with. I love synergy and believe the more people you collaborate with, the greater your confidence in the business world will become. And YES, women can work successfully with each other!!
Ladies, let’s keep on committing to heavily investing in ourselves and the way we work. We are game changers and we can really change the world through the products we create, the services we provide and the clients we serve. I support all the epic and awesome women who are already initiating change and inspiring me deeply along the way!
